The 2018 uiowa Brainhack is an official satellite event of the International Global Brainhack 2018 that is organized by James Kent and Hans Johnson. The goal of the hackathon is to bring together researchers with disparate backgrounds to collaborate on open science projects involving the brain.

Dates: May 3 - 5, 2018

Costs: Free

Location: Iowa City, IA., Informatics Center (5th Floor of the College of Public Health)

Participants are encouraged to post project ideas to www.brainhack.org and to submit a report describing their project to the 2018 Brainhack Proceedings that will be published by Gigascience after the event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the Brainhack for?

Anyone is welcome to attend the Brainhack, but the primary targeted audience is graduate students and post-doctoral students.

Do I have to know how to program?

No! You don't have to any prior programming experience to attend brainhack. There will be workshops that will assume no prior knowledge and will be a great platform to find resources to learn more.

Do I have to propose a project to attend?

No. You can come without proposing a project, and you are not even required to join another project, but we do encourage collaboration, whatever form that may take.

What should I bring to the Brainhack?

You should bring a laptop and a willingness to learn!
